Peru: PGN will develop pilot program with mother-daughter stations

The initiative will be launched by the end of the year in five different points of Lima, said the firm's general manager Edgardo Escobar. Through this system, natural gas from Camisea is compressed and then transported by trucks to where there is no gas infrastructure. PGN will be supplied by the gas plant of Brazilian company Neogás, located in the district of Turin, from which it will carry the compressed natural gas to the refuelling stations that are not connected to the main distribution system operated by Cálidda in Lima and Callao cities. To carry out the project, PGN will be responsible for the construction of the “daughter” stations and will also make the required investments for the transport of natural gas from the trucks to the CNG pumps. According to Escobar, Neogás plant has a natural gas capacity of more than 250 thousand cubic meters per day. “According to our expectations, we will be starting the virtual gas pilot project by year's end, in five points or filling stations, which will be located in the districts of Puente Piedra, San Juan de Lurigancho, Villa El Salvador and La Victoria, and in Callao,” added PGN’s executive.
