Qatar to import Iranian CNG equipment

September 22, 2010. Qatar is interested in importing Iran-made equipment of compressed natural gas (CNG) to expand its CNG refueling stations, an Iranian official says.
Mohammad Rouyanian, who heads Iran’s Fuel and Transport Management Organization, said some neighboring countries such as Qatar are eager to use Iran’s expertise in CNG powered public transportation vehicles and expansion of CNG stations.
Rouyanian predicted that Iran is to become an exporter of CNG kits and cylinders by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ending March 20). He further explained that some CNG equipment is being exported to European countries.
Rouyanian went on to say that the number of CNG stations in Iran has increased significantly over the past few years. He added that some 400 more CNG stations will be set up by the end of the year to reduce the consumption of gasoline in the country.
The sale of CNG-powered cars is also rising in Iran due to the low price of natural gas in the gas and oil-rich country.
