Lucknow Gets CNG Mother Station for New Year, Another to Follow
Lucknow, the capital city of India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh, is celebrating a good news start to 2010 for NGV motorists and bus companies. It’s first online CNG station, at Aashiana, is set commence operation in January, with approval formalities all but complete. Lucknow will also get a second mother station, at Gomti Nagar, intended to start by end of March.
“The Aashiana station will start functioning the day we get the final approval. It will be any moment now,” said S D Dhiman, Managing Director of Green Gas Limited, a joint venture of GAIL and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, which put the infrastructure in place.
According to an Indian Express
report, these stations will play a significant role in increasing CNG availability in the state capital. To date, buses have only been able to refuel at one mother station, at Amausi.
