To expand its network, Peru chooses mobile gas pipelines

Several companies in the NGV industry already have been investing in projects for the transport of CNG outside the core pipeline area. These initiatives will allow both refuelling stations as residential and industrial consumers to have access to the fluid in places where there is no gas infrastructure. Besides, they will significantly boost the market in all its branches and promote CNG consumption beyond the metropolitan area. One of the firms already operating with this technology is Neogas –a Brazilian company dedicated to developing equipment for the delivery of compressed gas-, which in March opened the first CNG station in Peru supplied through mobile pipelines, in the district of Ventanilla. During this year, the company also plans to extend this system to other eleven districts of Lima including Puente Piedra, Villa El Salvador, San Miguel, Ate, La Molina and San Juan de Lurigancho. GNC Energy del Peru is one of the companies that also bet on natural gas transport, powered by Argentinian technology of CNG Galileo. According to the company, the prospects for this year include the implementation of at least a five CNG stations, fed by its modules. In the medium term, the number could rise to over ten facilities. One of the closest projects is the station “Etissa” under Petrored flag, located in Los Olivos. EGP company transports natural gas since more than a year ago. During this period, over 15 million m3 of natural gas were delivered and more than $6 million dollars were invested. The company’s filling station is located in the most supplying CNG facility authorized in the country. In addition, the firm intends to expand its gas production capacity to 268.000 m3 per day and thus add a new compression module. Finally, GTM del Peru specializes in providing units and equipment for the transport of compressed and liquid natural gas at high pressure tubes that meet DOT guidelines and specifications. Company’s spokesman points out that this year many CNG stations will use their units to supply through virtual transport their daughter stations, which have no chance of being fueled by the gas pipeline.
